    Global Affairs Canada sets allocation and return rules for CETA high-sugar product export quota

    Global Affairs Canada's Notice to Importers and Exporters Serial No. 1093 sets out the administration of the CETA origin quota for High-Sugar Containing Products, defined as goods in Item 5205 on the Export Control List, namely Table A.1 of Annex 5-A of CETA between Canada and the EU and its Member States, and remains in effect until further notice. Allocations go 75% in Pool 1 on an equal share basis to eligible sugar refiners that apply by the prescribed deadline and 25% in Pool 2 first-come, first-served to eligible food processors and sugar refiners.

    Global Affairs Canada sets CETA origin quota rules for high-sugar exports to the EU

    Global Affairs Canada's Notice to Exporters Serial No. 214 sets out the administration of the 30,000 metric tonne CETA origin quota for high-sugar containing products exported from Canada to the European Union and its Member States, covering products with 65 per cent or more by net weight of added cane or beet sugar of subheadings 1701.91 through 1701.99 refined in Canada. The quota year runs January 1 to December 31, Pool 1 takes 90 percent for eligible Canadian sugar refiners and Pool 2 takes 10 percent on a first-come, first-served basis, with Pool 1 applications due November 15 and unutilized quota returnable by July 1.
